Marilla's Playgroup is on every Wednesday morning at 9:30am-11:30am (During school term times).  We run this group outside in a large garden area with plenty of shaded areas. We have a playhouse and a sand pit and lots of toys to keep your little people happy and occupied. There will be a craft and every term we focus on a different theme to encourage them to learn through play.   Free tea and coffee for parents.  Please bring a piece of fruit to share and dress for the weather. Gold coin donation required. This group is for Marilla members. You can attend the first session without joining Marilla, you can join online at www.marillacommunitycentre.com or fill out a form on the day.  Membership for 12 months is only $20 (Non-Defence) or only $10 for Defence families. Marilla's Free Friday Socials are back! Need some FREE entertainment for the kids? Want to get out of the house, meet up with friendly families at a child friendly venue? Marilla Community Centre at Rockingham Navy Club is for you!   Allow us to entertain the children, while you catch up with old friends and make new ones.  There will be a different 'fun entertainment activity' every month, so don't miss out and take advantage of this FREE event. Join us for our Christmas celebration! We will have a visit from the big man himself and a treat for all out boys and girls, Christmas craft and Christmas carols from the Australian Military Wives Choir! Come along and let the games begin! Food available for adults and children, booking is essential. Call Rockingham Navy Club on 08 9592 7997 ( if no answer just leave a message with your name, date of booking and how many children/adults that require a meal) You can then choose on the night what you want to eat and you will have a table reserved for your meal. The Navy club is a licensed venue.  Strictly no BYO food or drinks. Ensure you book your food so you have a table reserved inside. Children who remain with their parents after the event closes (7pm) must be supervised by an adult and follow the Navy Clubs rules. There will be Ode at 7.00pm where everyone is required to be silent (including children) to pay respect to the fallen. Activities will be outside so make sure your child is dressed for the weather. Are your kids getting their first phone/iPad/computer this Christmas? Do you need to know more about their online world? Then this workshop is a must! Thanks to DCO funding we would like to invite all our Defence families and Marilla Members to take part in this workshop which will help you keep your kids safe online. FREE Tea/Coffee. Adult only event. Children and young people are online now more than at any other time in history. They are heavily influenced by social media and their online experiences. WA Child Safety Services is committed to empowering children and young people to have safe and positive experiences in the digital environment. As trusted adults in their lives we have a responsibility to assist children and young people to maximise the benefits of being online and helping them to manage the risks. Our workshops are designed to provide up-to-date information, guidance and strategies to support children and young people to navigate the digital world safely. We use Protective Behaviours as a framework to teach Cyber Safety. Workshop Content: • Understand the apps, social media platforms, games and sites children and young people use. • Practical strategies to protect personal information, develop healthy online habits and methods to avoid ‘tech tantrums’ and problematic use. • Current information about online gaming, online grooming, image-based abuse, nudes (sexting), pornography and cyberbullying. • Information about parental controls and restriction tools. • Educational resources to assist educators in teaching cyber safety.
